All Things are Possible to Believers - Mark 9:23

Mark wrote how, “all the people, when they beheld” Jesus “were greatly amazed, and running to him saluted him. And he asked the scribes, What question you with them? And one of the multitude answered and said, Master, I have brought unto you my son, which has a dumb spirit. And wheresoever he takes him, he tears him: and he foams, and gnashes with his teeth, and pines away: and I spake to your disciples that they should cast him out; and they could not. He answered him, and said, O faithless generation, how long shall I be with you? how long shall I suffer you? bring him unto me. And they brought him unto him: and when he saw him, straightway the spirit tare him; and he fell on the ground, and wallowed foaming. And he asked his father, How long is it ago since this came unto him? And he said, Of a child. And ofttimes it has cast him into the fire, and into the waters, to destroy him: but if you can do any thing, have compassion on us, and help us”, and in chapter nine and verse twenty-three of his book, Mark shared how Jesus told the father, “all things are possible to him that believes” where we read:

Jesus said unto him, If you can believe, all things are possible to him that believes.

The verse reads, “Jesus said unto him, If you can believe, ... Mark began with the words, “Jesus said” which means “Jesus who is the Son of God, the Savior of mankind and God incarnate whose name means Jehovah is Salvation uttered, declared and proclaimed” “unto him” or “to the man whose son was mute by an evil spirit”, “if you can believe” which means “whether the man is able and capable of thinking to be true, is persuaded of, places confidence in and entrusts”. Mark shared how Jesus began to respond to the man by appealing to the man's ability to “trust and be persuaded” of the following.

The verse goes on to say, ... all things are possible to him that believes. Mark continued with the words, “all things” which means “each, every, the whole and everything that may happen and be” “are possible” or “are capable, able and with the power to happen for something” “to him” which means “to the person whether male or female” “that believe” or “who is capable of thinking to be true, be persuaded of, place confidence in and entrust”. Mark shared how Jesus said “everything that may be done” is “possible” for the person who puts their “confidence and trust” in Him.

When we meditate upon Mark's words in this verse, we see how Jesus shared two parts to ministering to people. First, Jesus is loving, pitiful and capable to give aid, and secondly the person He is willing to “help”, must “believe and trust” in Him. For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in him should not perish, but have everlasting life” (See John 3:16), and this verse demonstrates those “two parts” for the “salvation” of mankind. First, God “loved the world and gave His only begotten Son”, and secondly it is contingent upon “whosoever believes”. Those who are wise will read and hear Jesus' words and yield their lives to Him as their personal “Savior and Lord”.

Next time Mark shares how Jesus tells the father, “the father of the child cried out, and said with tears, Lord, I believe; help my unbelief”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
