We Know Who Jesus Is - John 7:27

The apostle John wrote how in the middle of the feast, and He asked the people there, “If a man on the sabbath day receive circumcision, that the law of Moses should not be broken; are you angry at me, because I have made a man every whit whole on the sabbath day? Judge not according to the appearance, but judge righteous judgment. Then said some of them of Jerusalem, Is not this he, whom they seek to kill? But, lo, he speaks boldly, and they say nothing unto him. Do the rulers know indeed that this is the very Christ?”, and in chapter seven and verse twenty-seven of his book, John shared how some of the people in Jerusalem said, “we know where this man is from” where we read:

Howbeit we know this man from where he is: but when Christ comes, no man knows from where he is.

The verse reads,Howbeit we know this man from where he is:” John began with the words, “Howbeit we know this man” or “however, nevertheless, nonetheless and notwithstanding we, the Jewish people in Jerusalem, understand, perceive and have knowledge of this male human being” “from where he is” which means “the origin, location and place from which Jesus exists”. John shared how the people began to reason how they “knew” from “where” Jesus came.

The verse goes on to say, but when Christ comes, no man knows from where he is.” John continued with the words, “but when Christ comes” which means “however, nonetheless, notwithstanding and moreover at the time and moment the Messiah and Son of God arises and appears”, “no man knows from where he is” or “not one person whether male or female understands, perceives and has knowledge of the place and location of the Christ”? John shared how the people believed at the time the “Messiah” would appear, no one would “know” from where He came.

When we think through John's words in this verse, we see how the people in Jerusalem were confused because they did not understand how Jesus could be the Messiah since they knew where He was from. They thought the “location, origin and place” of the “Christ” of God would be unknown to the people, but they knew Jesus. God desired to share His Son Jesus with the world, and anyone who believes and trusts in Him as their personal “Savior and Lord” will be forgiven of their sins and inherit everlasting life with God. Jesus' origin is from God the Father, and those who are wise will yield their life to Him as the Messiah and “Savior” of the world.

Next time John shares how Jesus proclaims in the temple, “you both know me, and you know from where I am”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
