The apostle John wrote how Jesus said, “He that has my commandments, and keeps them, he it is that loves me: and he that loves me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him”, and in chapter fourteen and verse twenty-two of his book John shared how, “Judas said to him, not Iscariot, Lord how is it that you will manifest yourself unto us?”, where we read:
Judas said unto him, not Iscariot,
Lord, how is it that you will manifest yourself unto us, and not unto the world?
The verse reads, “Judas said unto him, not Iscariot, ...” John began with the words, “Judas said unto him” which means “Jesus' disciples Judas whose name means he shall be praised uttered, declared, proclaimed and asked”, “not Iscariot” or “this was not the Judas from Iscariot which means from the men of Kerioth who betrayed Jesus” the following words. John shared how Jesus' disciple “Judas” who was not “Iscariot” asked Him the following question.
The verse goes on to say, “... Lord, how is it that you will manifest yourself unto us, and not unto the world?” John continued with the word, “Lord” which refers to “One to whom a person or thing belongs, about which he has power of deciding; master, and the title to God the Messiah”, “how is it that you will manifest yourself unto us” or “in what way or manner will you, Jesus, exhibit, disclose, declare and make known your own self to us, the disciples of Jesus”, “and not unto the world” which means “and no and in not in any way toward the circle of the earth and it's inhabitants”? John shared how Jesus' disciple “Judas” who was not “Iscariot” asked Him “how” He was going to “reveal and make Himself known” to His disciples but not to the inhabitants in the earth.
When we meditate upon John's words in this verse, we discover the curiosity within Jesus' disciple named “Judas” who was not “Iscariot”. He asked how Jesus was going to “reveal” Himself to His disciples but not to others in the world. Jesus desires a personal and intimate relationship with every person who will believe and trust in Him, and when they surrender their lives to Him, He will “make Himself known” to them in a way others cannot see. God loves people, and He sent His Son Jesus to die on the cross for the sins of every person, and those who submit their lives to Him will be forgiven of their sins, granted everlasting life and grow in their intimacy with Him in a way that others never know.
Next time John shares how Jesus says, “if a man love me, he will keep my words”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
