We Are Sure You Know All Things - John 16:30

The apostle John wrote how Jesus told His disciples, the time comes, when I shall no more speak unto you in proverbs, but I shall show you plainly of the Father. At that day you shall ask in my name: and I say not unto you, that I will pray the Father for you. For the Father himself loves you, because you have loved me, and have believed that I came out from God. I came forth from the Father, and am come into the world: again, I leave the world, and go to the Father. His disciples said unto him, Lo, now speak you plainly, and speak no proverb”, and in chapter sixteen and verse thirty of his book John shared how Jesus' disciples told Him, “now we are sure that you know all things” where we read:

Now are we sure that you know all things, and need not that any man should ask you:

by this we believe that you came forth from God.

The verse reads,Now are we sure that you know all things, and need not that any man should ask you: John began with the words, “Now are we sure” which means “at this time are we, the disciples of Jesus, are able to see, perceive, observe and behold” “that you know all things” or “that you, Jesus, perceive, notice, discover and discern each, every, the whole and everything”, “and need not” which means “and do not require or demand” “that any man should ask you” or “that any particular person whether male or female inquire of, request or desire of you, Jesus”. John shared how Jesus' disciples told Him they were “certain” that He knew “everything” that was to be known, and He had no “need” for anyone to “inquire or make requests” of Him.

The verse goes on to say, by this we believe that you came forth from God. John added the words, “by this we believe” or “through and with the fact that you, Jesus, know everything we, disciples of Jesus, trust in, rely upon, cling to and have confidence” “that you came forth” which means “that you, Jesus, arose and appeared” “from God” or “apart from the Heavenly Father God”. John shared how Jesus' disciples told Him they were “believers” that He arose and appeared from the Heavenly Father God because He “knew” everything.

When we meditate upon John's words in this verse, we learn how Jesus' disciples based their “trust” in Him because they perceived that He knew “everything”. Jesus did not have to “ask” for any information because He knew it all, however He often asked questions of other to allow them to discover for themselves the answer He had in mind. God is all-knowing, and He sent His Son Jesus to the world to die for all the “sins” which He knows are within mankind. God is loving, and He allowed His Son Jesus to be crucified so people could live with Him forever. Jesus was resurrected from the dead three days later to demonstrate God's power over death, hell and the grave, and anyone who surrenders their life to Him will be saved from the penalty of death for sins and receive everlasting life with the all-knowing God. Let all who read these words yield themselves to Jesus who knows everything and still came to save.

Next time John shares how Jesus asks His disciples, “do you now believe?”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
