Taking Away the Non-Fruit Bearing Branch - John 15:2

The apostle John wrote how Jesus proclaimed, I am the true vine, and my Father is the husbandman”, and in chapter fifteen and verse two of his book John shared how Jesus proclaimed, “every branch in me that bears not fruit he takes away”, where we read:

Every branch in me that bears not fruit he takes away:

and every branch that bears fruit, he purges it, that it may bring forth more fruit.

The verse reads,Every branch in me that bears not fruit he takes away: John began with the words, “Every branch in me” which means “each, the whole, all and everyone of the tender and flexible vine sprouts” “that bears not fruit” or “that does not carry, uphold, bring forth or produce works, acts and deeds” “he takes away” which means “he, the Heavenly Father as a husbandman or caretaker of the vine removes”. John shared how Jesus said His Heavenly Father God removes any “vine sprouts” from the vine that are not producing “fruit” or acts and deeds.

The verse goes on to say, and every branch that bears fruit, he purges it, that it may bring forth more fruit.John continued with Jesus' words, “and every branch” which means “each, the whole, all and everyone of the tender and flexible vine sprouts” “that bears fruit” or “that carries, upholds, brings forth or produces works, acts and deeds”, “he purges it” which means “he, the Heavenly Father as a husbandman or caretaker of the vine cleanses of filthy impurity”, “that it may bring forth” or “so the branch that bears fruit will carry, uphold and produce” “more fruit” which means “a greater number of works, acts and deeds”. John shared how Jesus said each of the “vine shoots” that produces “fruit” or “works, acts and deeds” will be “cleansed from filth” so that it may “produce” even more “works, acts and deeds”.

When we consider John's words in this verse, we learn how Jesus declared the mission of both He and His Father God. Jesus was to come to the earth, die for the sins of mankind, forgive the sins of those who believe in Him and employ them in His Kingdom to share the “gospel”. The “works, acts and deeds” or “fruit” produced by those who are connected to the “truthful vine Jesus” will be enhanced as He cleanses them and prepares them to produce even more “works, acts and deeds”. Vines would often fall onto the ground and be covered with filth and dirt which would prevent them from producing the potential fruit of which it was capable. The “husbandman” who cared for the “vineyard” would come along, pick the vines out of the dirt, clean them and put them in the best position for them to produce more “fruit”. God does the same with those who believe and trust in His Son Jesus, and when He cleanses them from all unrighteousness, they shall produce “works, acts and deeds” which are abundant and overflowing in His Kingdom.

Next time John shares how Jesus says, “you are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
