The apostle John wrote how Jesus told His disciples, “These things have I spoken unto you, that you should not be offended”, and in chapter sixteen and verse two of his book John shared how Jesus told His disciples, “they shall put you out of the synagogues”, where we read:
They shall put you out of the synagogues:
yes, the time comes, that whosoever kills you will think that he does God service.
The verse reads, “They shall put you out of the synagogues:” John began with Jesus' words, “they shall put you out” which means “the people who hate and despise the disciples of Jesus will throw, cast away and excommunicate them out” “of the synagogues” or “from the sacred worship places where the Israelites assemble”. John shared how Jesus said the people who “hated Him, His Heavenly Father and His disciples” would exclude them from the sacred practices held within the worship places.
The verse goes on to say, “yes, the time comes, that whosoever kills you will think that he does God service.” John continued with the words, “yes, the time comes” which means “even so and indeed, the certain and definite season and moment arises and appears”, “that whosoever kills you” or “that whatever person, whether male or female, destroys, extinguishes, abolishes and inflicts mortal death upon you, disciples of Jesus” “will think that he does God service” which means “will be of the opinion, suppose and account that they perform, make ready and produce the Godhead's sacred ministration and hire”. John shared how Jesus said there would be a “season” in His disciples' future when people who “inflict mortal death” upon them would “suppose and believe” they were performing the ministry of God.
When we consider John's words in this verse, we learn how reprobate minded these people would be who were in opposition to Him and His disciples. Not only would they “cast them out” of the “sacred worship places”, but when they “killed” them, they would believe they were serving God. God loves people, and He sent His Son Jesus to be the “Savior and Lord” of the world. Every person who yields their life to Jesus will be forgiven of their sins and granted everlasting life, however, those who oppose Him and attempt to destroy the followers of Jesus, even when they believe they are doing right, will face the judgment of Almighty God who will let them know their “thinking” was wrong and wrong for all eternity.
Next time we see John share how Jesus tells His disciples, “these things will they do unto you, because they have not known the Father, nor me”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
