Come and Dine - John 21:12

The apostle John wrote how Jesus revealed Himself to His disciples on the sea shore and told His disciples, “Bring of the fish which you have now caught. Simon Peter went up, and drew the net to land full of great fishes, an hundred and fifty and three: and for all there were so many, yet was not the net broken”, and in chapter twenty-one and verse twelve of his book John shared how Jesus told His disciples, “come and dine” where we read:

Jesus said unto them, Come and dine. And none of the disciples did ask him,

Who are you? knowing that it was the Lord.

The verse begins, “Jesus said unto them, Come and dine.” John began with the words, “Jesus said unto them” which means “the Son of God, the Savior of mankind and God incarnate whose name means Jehovah is Salvation uttered, declared and proclaimed to His disciples”, “Come” or “arise, appear and come here” “and dine” which means “and take and eat the principle meat”. John shared how Jesus instructed His disciples to “come” and eat breakfast with Him.

The verse goes on to say, “And none of the disciples did ask him, Who are you? knowing that it was the Lord.” John continued with the words, “and none of the disciples did ask him” “and not a single one of Jesus' students, pupils and attendants inquired of and questioned him, Jesus”, “who are you” which means “what person are you or do you exist as”? “knowing that it was the Lord” or “because, since and on account that Jesus' disciples understood, perceived, noticed and discerned that is was the One to whom a person or thing belongs, about which he has power of deciding; master, and the title given to God the Messiah”. John shared how not a single one of Jesus' “disciples” inquired of who He was because they “knew” it was Him.

When we meditate upon John's words in this verse, we learn about another normal activity in which Jesus involved Himself with His disciples. He instructed them to “come” to where He was and “eat” with Him. Jesus had cooked breakfast for His disciples, and after a night filled with fishing and finally catching a massive haul, the disciples were probably hungry. Jesus cared for their physical needs, and by cooking for them, He showed them how He was with them in person again. God the Heavenly Father sent His Son Jesus into the world to die for the sins of every person, and because those sins separate people from God, they needed to be removed before He could have an intimate relationship with them. God desires to be involved in every event within a person's life, and when they surrender to Him, He continually invites them to have fellowship with Him like this time with His disciples. Let all who read these words, “Come and dine” with Jesus.

Next time John shares how Jesus, “ took bread, and gave to them, and fish likewise”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
