Jesus Reveals Himself Again - John 21:1

John the apostle wrote how, “many other signs truly did Jesus in the presence of his disciples, which are not written in this book. But these are written, that you might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing you might have life through his name”, and in chapter twenty-one and verse one of his book John shared, “After these things Jesus showed himself again to the disciples at the sea of Tiberias” where we read:

After these things Jesus showed himself again to the disciples at the sea of Tiberias;

and on this wise showed he himself.

The verse begins, “After these things Jesus showed himself again to the disciples at the sea of Tiberias;” John began with the words, “after these things” which means “after Jesus revealed Himself to His disciples including Thomas” “Jesus showed himself again” or “the Son of God, the Savior of mankind and God incarnate whose name means Jehovah is Salvation revealed and exposed himself another time” “to the disciples” which means “to the students, pupils and attendants of Jesus” “at the sea of Tiberias” or “at the large body of water pertaining to Tiberias which means from the Tiber as the river god and was a city of Galilee near the Lake of Gennesaret, which Herod Antipas, tetrarch of Galilee, greatly enlarged and beautified, and named Tiberias in honor of Tiberias Caesar”. John shared how “Jesus” revealed Himself to His “disciples” another time at the “large body of water” named “Tiberias”.

The verse goes on to say, “and on this wise showed he himself.” John continued with the words, “and on this wise or “and in this manner and likeness” “showed he himself” which means “revealed and exposed he, Jesus, His own self”. John began to share the manner in which Jesus revealed Himself to His disciples this time.

When we meditate upon John's words in this verse, we learn how Jesus was to reveal Himself to His “disciples” yet another time. This time would be very special, and we shall discover how He did it in our next few verses. For now let it suffice us to know Jesus desired that His disciples know He was near to them. Jesus would leave His disciples very soon, and they would be without His physical presence. However, He would be with them spiritually at all times. God desires to have an eternal and personal spiritual relationship with every person, and when they yield their lives to His Son Jesus, He will grant them forgiveness of sins and everlasting life. Let all who read these words seek the Lord Jesus who desires a personal spiritual relationship with everyone who yields to Him.

Next time John shares how, “there were together Simon Peter, and Thomas called Didymus, and Nathanael of Cana in Galilee, and the sons of Zebedee, and two other of his disciples”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
