In the book of Proverbs Solomon asked, “Do they not err that devise evil? but mercy and truth shall be to them that devise good”, and in chapter fourteen and verse twenty-three of Proverbs Solomon said, “in labor there is profit” where we read,
In all labor there is profit: but the talk of the lips tends only to penury.
The verse begins, “In all labor there is profit:” Solomon began with the words, “in all profit” or “within each, every, the whole and everyone of the acts of toil, sorrow, hardship and pain” “there is profit” which means “there exists pre-eminence, abundance, superiority and plenty”. Solomon said there exists abundance and plenty within every form of toil, sorrow and hardship.
The verse goes on to say, “but the talk of the lips tends only to penury.” Solomon continued with the words, “but the talk” or “however, nonetheless, notwithstanding and moreover the speech, proclamation, declaration and sayings” “of the lips” which means “belonging to the physical lips used for speaking” “tends only to penury” or “lends and directs a person solely and alone toward need, poverty, need, want and lack”. Solomon said the speech from the physical lips of a person leads them to need, lack and poverty.
When we think through the words in this verse, we see through Solomon that there is a benefit to every toil, sorrow, hardship and pain we endure, however, speeches alone leads a person to poverty and need. God is aware of the hardship and difficulties of working, and whenever we have aligned with His Son Jesus who died on the cross for our sins, we will be forgiven of our sins, granted everlasting life and given the ability through His Holy Spirit to endure toils and sorrows which shall benefit us in this life and in the life to come.
Next time Solomon says, “the crown of the wise is their riches”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
