Wisdom is Better than Rubies - Proverbs 8:11

In the book of Proverbs Solomon said, “Receive my instruction, and not silver; and knowledge rather than choice gold”, and in chapter eight and verse eleven of Proverbs Solomon said, “wisdom is better than rubies” where we read,

For wisdom is better than rubies; and all the things that may be desired are not to be compared to it.

The verse begins, For wisdom is better than rubies; Solomon began with the words, “for wisdom” or “because, since and on account that skill, shrewdness and prudence” is better than rubies which means “exists as more pleasant, agreeable and excellent compared to precious ruby stones”. Solomon shared how “wisdom” is more excellent than valuable “ruby” stones.

The verse goes on to say, “and all the things that may be desired are not to be compared to it.” Solomon continued with the words, “and all the things” or “and each, every, the whole and everything” “that may be desired” which means “of which a person may consider good pleasure, valuable, acceptable and pleasant” “are not to be compared to it” or “exist in no way or manner to be equivalent, level to or resemble”. Solomon said everything that a person might consider valuable and pleasant in no way resembles or is equivalent to “wisdom”.

When we think through the words in this verse, we discover the great value of “wisdom” through Solomon. Neither valuable “ruby stones” nor anything else that may be wanted by mankind is equivalent to “wisdom's” value. God is willing to share His “wisdom” with everyone who asks for it, and the wisest decision we shall ever make is to receive His Son Jesus who died on the cross for our sins as our personal “Savior and Lord”. When we surrender our lives to Him, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and fill us with His Holy Spirit so we may have access to His “wisdom” every day of our lives. Let us give praise, honor and glory to Jehovah God and His Son Jesus for their open invitation for everyone to receive their “wisdom”.

Next time Solomon says, “I wisdom dwell with prudence”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
