Paul
the apostle told the people in Rome,
“the
Spirit also helps our infirmities: for we know not what we should
pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself makes intercession for us
with groanings which cannot be uttered”,
and
in
chapter eight and verse twenty-seven of Romans,
Paul wrote concerning, “he
that searches the hearts” where
we read:
And
he that searches the hearts knows what is
the mind of the Spirit,
The
verse begins, “And
he that searches the hearts knows what is
the mind of the Spirit, ...”
Paul
began with the words, “and
he that searches”
which means “God who examines and investigates” “the
hearts”
or “the soul or mind as it is the fountain and seat of the
thoughts, passions, desires, appetites, affections, purposes and
endeavors ”
“knows”
which means “perceives, notices, discerns and discovers” “what
is the mind”
or “that which is in the mind, thoughts and purposes” “of
the Spirit”
which refers to “pertaining to the third person of the triune God
who is the Holy Spirit and is coequal, coeternal with the Father and
the Son”. Paul told his readers how God “looks for” what is in
the “heart and mind” of everyone, and He knows the “thoughts
and purposes” of His Spirit.
The
verse continues, “...
because he makes intercession for the saints according to the
will of
God.”
Paul
continued with the word, “because”
or “since” “he
makes intercession”
which means “the Holy Spirit intercedes” “for
the saints”
which means “on behalf of the morally and ceremonially blameless”
“according
to”
or “on behalf of Paul, his companions and his believing readers”
“the
will”
or “the choice, intentions and interests” “of
God”
which means “pertaining to the Godhead bodily and trinity which is
comprised of God the Father, Christ the Son and the Holy Spirit”.
Paul shared how God involves Himself according to His own “desires
and intentions” in the “prayers”
of those who believe and trust in Jesus.
When
we meditate these words of Paul, we see how God, who knows
everything, involves Himself in the prayer life of the person who
believes and trusts in Jesus as their personal “Savior and Lord”.
God knows the “desires and interests” of His Holy Spirit, and
when He “makes intercession”, it is always “according
to” what He “purposes and intends”. Jesus Christ desires to
come into every person's “heart and mind”, and when He does, His
Holy Spirit involves Himself in every part of their lives including
knowing what and how to pray.
Next
time Paul tells his readers, “all
things work together for good to them that love God”,
so read ahead, and we shall join together then.

tomorrow…there is more…
