Paul
the apostle exclaimed to the people in Rome,
“There
is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus,
who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit”,
and in
chapter
eight and verse two of Romans, Paul shared with his readers
concerning, “the
law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus”
where
we read:
For
the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from
the law of sin and death.
The
verse begins, “For
the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus ...” Paul
began with the words, “for
the law”
which means “even as, indeed, no doubt, seeing then, verily and
therefore the rule producing a state approved of God” “of
the Spirit”
or “pertaining to the third person of the triune God who is the
Holy Spirit and coequal, coeternal with the Father and the Son” “of
life”
which means “life real and genuine which is a life active and
vigorous, devoted to God, blessed, in the portion even in this world
of those who put their trust in Christ, but after the resurrection to
be consummated by new accessions (among them a more perfect body),
and to last for ever” “in
Christ”
which refers to “the anointed One, the Messiah and the Son of God”
“Jesus”
whose name means “Jehovah is Salvation” and is “the Son of
God, the Savior of mankind and God incarnate”. Paul shared how the
“Spirit”
of God within “Jesus
Christ”
became a “superior” “law” to the original one.
The
verse continues, “...
has
made me free from the law of sin and death.” Paul
added the words, “has
made me free”
which means “has delivered Paul and him set at liberty” “from
the law”
or “separate and apart from the rule” “of
sin”
which means “of missing the mark, erring and being mistaken” “and
death”
or “that separation (whether natural or violent) of the soul and
the body by which the life on earth is ended”. The “law
of the Spirit of life” which
was in Jesus, set Paul at “liberty” from the “rule” of
“missing the mark” and it's penalty,
“death”.
When
we consider these words of Paul, we see how “God's Spirit”
ruling and reigning in Jesus was able to set Paul “free” from his
“sinful flesh” and it's corresponding penalty of “death”.
Jesus Christ came to the earth to “set at liberty” all who
“believe and trust” in Him as “Savior and Lord”, and He is
willing to receive everyone who “repents of their sin, believes in
Him, and trusts Him” for all eternity. May every person who reads
these words know the power of the risen Christ, and put their faith
and trust in Him today.
Next
time Paul shares tells his readers concerning, “the
law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus”,
so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
