Paul
the apostle told the people in Rome,
“the
creature was made subject to vanity, not willingly,
but
by reason of him who has subjected the
same
in hope”,
and he added, “Because
the creature itself also shall be delivered from the bondage of
corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God. in
chapter eight and verse twenty-two of Romans,
Paul completed his thought as he wrote to his readers how, “the
whole creation groans and travails in pain” where
we read:
For
we know that the whole creation groans and travails in pain together
until now.
The
verse begins, “For
we know that the whole creation groans
…” Paul
began with the words, “for
we know”
which means “even as, indeed, no doubt, seeing then, verily and
therefore Paul, his companions and his readers understand, perceive,
notice, discern and discover” “that
the whole creation
or “that each, every, all and every part of the established and
ordered formation” “groans”
which means “moans together”. Paul told his readers that all of
“creation”
“moans”.
The
verse continues, “...
and
travails in pain together until now.”
Paul
continued with the words, “and
travails in pain together”
or “undergoes agony like a woman in childbirth” “until
now”
or “till the present moment and time”. Paul shared how
“creation”
also is in “agony like a woman giving childbirth” at the present
time.
When
we think through these words of Paul, we see how God's “creation”
was affected by the “sinful fall” of man. When Adam sinned, all
of “creation” suffered
the effects of it, and it is in a position of “agony” at the
present time while hoping for the day when Jesus Christ comes to
“restore” all things. Jesus came to “save” people from their
“sins”,
and when a person receives Jesus Christ into their “heart and
life”, He changes them and makes all things new. The same will be
true for the “groaning and
travailing creation”
when He returns, but until then, the “groaning
and travailing”
continues.
Next
time Paul tells his readers about, “the
first-fruits of the Spirit”,
so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until
tomorrow…there is more…
