Paul
the apostle told the people in Rome,
“the
earnest expectation of the creature waits for the manifestation of
the sons of God”,
and in chapter eight and verse twenty of Romans,
Paul told his readers how, “the
creature was made subject to vanity”
where
we read:
For
the creature was made subject to vanity, not willingly,
but
by reason of him who has subjected the
same
in hope,
The
verse begins, “For
the creature was made subject to vanity, not willingly,
…” Paul
began with the words, “for”
which means “even as, indeed, no doubt, seeing then, verily and
therefore” “the
creature”
or “pertaining to the creation” “was
made subject”
which means “was arranged under, put in subjection and made to
submit and yield to one's admonition or advice” “to
vanity”
which means “what is devoid of truth, perverse, depraved, frail and
in want of vigor”, “not
willingly”
or “forced, not voluntary or of one's accord”. Paul shared how
“creation” was made “submissive” to that which is “depraved
and perverse”.
The
verse continues, “...
but
by reason of him who has subjected the
same
in hope”.
Paul
continued with the word, “but”
which means “nevertheless, notwithstanding, moreover and” “by
reason”
or “through and by means” “of
him”
which refers to “God Himself”“who
has subjected”
or “arranged under, put in subjection and made to submit and yield
to His admonition and advice” “the
same in”
which means “the creation” “hope”
or “joyful and confident expectation”. The reason “creation”
was made subject to that which is “depraved and perverse” was
because God made it to be that way with the “expectation” there
would be a change in the future.
When
we consider these words of Paul, we see how “creation”, after the
sinful fall of man, was made “subject” to the “depravity and
perverseness” that came into the world. God allowed this so He
could alter that condition by sending His Son Jesus to “save”
“creation” from man's “fall”. Jesus came to the earth, kept
God's law, died for the sins of everyone in the world, rose from the
dead and reversed the “curse” that “creation” endured.
Turning to Jesus, repenting of sins and believing in His provision
for “salvation” gives “hope” to all who have been
subjected to the “vanity” in “creation”, and those who
are wise shall comply and submit today.
Next
time Paul tells his readers, “the
creature itself also shall be delivered”,
so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until
tomorrow…there is more…
