Paul
the apostle told the people in Rome,
“whom
he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to
be
conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn
among many brethren”,
and in
chapter eight and verse thirty of Romans,
Paul told his readers, “whom
he did predestinate, them he also called...justified...and glorified”
where
we read:
Moreover
whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called,
them
he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified.
The
verse begins, “Moreover
whom he did predestinate, them he also called:”
Paul
began with the word, “moreover”
which means “and in addition” “whom
he did predestinate”
or “the people whether male or female God predetermined, decided
beforehand, appointed and decreed from eternity”,
“them he also”
which means “the people predetermined God even so and indeed”
“called”
or “gave a name to, received, bore a title and saluted by name”.
Paul told his readers how God “gave and saluted by name” the
people he “predetermined and decreed from eternity”.
The
verse continues, “and
whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them
he also glorified.”
Paul
continued with the words, “and
whom”
or “and the people whether male or female” “he
called”
which means “God gave and saluted by name” “he
also justified”
which means “God even so and indeed rendered righteous and
pronounced them to be as they ought to be”: “and
whom”
or “and the people whether male or female” “he
justified”
which means “God rendered righteous and pronounced them to be as
they ought to be”, “them
he also”
or “those people God even so and indeed” “glorified”
which means “honored, magnified, celebrated and adorned with luster
and splendor”. Paul shared how God not only “called”
people who were predetermined to “love” Him, but He also “made
them righteous” and “honored” them in “splendor”.
When
we meditate upon these words of Paul, we see how God desires to bless
people who have devoted themselves to Him. When people receive God's
Son Jesus as “Savior and Lord”, God “calls” them,
“justifies” them and “glorifies” them in ways
that cannot otherwise be obtained. God knows in advance who will
choose to “love” Him through His Son Jesus, and He knows those
who will not. The only way to know which side a person is on is
whether they choose Him or not. Today His invitation is to “choose
to love Him” through a relationship with His Son Jesus, and the
benefits of being in fellowship with God shall follow you all the
days of your life.
Next
time Paul asks his readers, “what
shall we then say to theses things?”,
so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until
tomorrow…there is more…
