The Creature Delivered from Bondage Romans 8:21

Paul the apostle told the people in Rome, the creature was made subject to vanity, not willingly,
but by reason of him who has subjected the same in hope”, and in chapter eight and verse twenty-one of Romans, Paul completed his thought as he wrote to his readers how, “the creature itself also shall be delivered” where we read:

Because the creature itself also shall be delivered
from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God.

The verse begins, Because the creature itself also shall be delivered …” Paul began with the words, “because” which means “how that and since” “the creature itself” or “the creation itself” “also shall be delivered” which means “will even so and indeed be made free and set at liberty from the dominion of sin”. Paul shared how “creation” will be “set free from sin's dominion”.

The verse continues, “... from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God.” Paul continued with the words, “from the bondage” which means “away and separate from slavery and the condition of a slave” “of corruption” or “destruction, perishing and moral decay” “into the glorious” which refers to “into the splendor, brightness and honor of” “”“liberty” or “license, and freedom to omit things having no relationship to salvation” “of the children” or “pertaining to the descendants and posterity” “of God” which refers to “the Godhead bodily and trinity which is comprised of God the Father, Christ the Son and the Holy Spirit”. Paul shared how “God's children” will be “delivered” from the “slavery of destruction and perishing” and “set free” to live as His “children” should live.

When we meditate upon these words of Paul, we see how God desires to set people free from the “bondage of corruption” which was brought about by “sin”. This is why Jesus came. He desired to “set at liberty them that are bruised” (Luke 4:18), and bring “everlasting life” to everyone who will “believe and trust” in Him. God desires a family of “children” who are set free from “sin's destruction”, and who are given the ability to “live freely” according to His ways and purposes. Let all who are “bound by sin's destruction” know there is a God who loves them, desires to have a child-father relationship with them, and who has sent His Son Jesus provide a way for that to exist.

Next time Paul tells his readers, “the whole creation groans”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
