Paul
the apostle asked the people in Rome,
“What
fruit had you then in those things whereof you are now ashamed?”,
and he added, “for
the end of those things is
death.” He
continued, “But
now being made free from sin, and become servants to God, you have
your fruit unto holiness, and the end everlasting life.” In
chapter
six and twenty-three of Romans, Paul told the Romans, “the
wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life”
where
we read:
The
verse begins, “For
the wages of sin is
death;” Paul
began with the words, “for”
which means “even as, indeed, no doubt, seeing then, verily and
therefore” “the
wages”
which means “the pay for hire” “of
sin“
which means “missing the mark, erring and being mistaken”, “is
death”
or “that separation (whether natural or violent) of the soul and
the body by which the life on earth is ended”. Paul shared how the
“pay” or “remuneration” for “missing the mark of God” is
“termination of life”.
The
verse goes on to say, “but
the gift of God is
eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” Paul
continued with the word “but”
which is a disassociation conjunction that means what is about to be
written takes precedence over what was just stated “the
gift”
which means “the favor of divine grace, faith, knowledge, holiness
and virtue” “of
God”
which refers to “the Godhead bodily and trinity which is comprised
of God the Father, Christ the Son and the Holy Spirit” “is
eternal life”
which means “vitality, animation and the absolute fulness of life,
both essential and ethical without beginning and end and never to
cease” “through
Jesus”
whose name means “Jehovah is Salvation” and is “the Son of God,
Savior of mankind and God incarnate” “Christ”
who is “the anointed One, the Messiah and the Son of God”. Paul
shared how God's “gift”
through His Son Jesus is “everlasting and abundant life” forever
and ever.
When
we consider these words of Paul, we note “death” as both
the “payment” and “penalty” that awaits “sin's”
judgment. Because of “sin”, every person will die,
however, since Jesus Christ came to die and pay the penalty for
“sin”, everyone who puts their “faith and trust” in Him
is promised “everlasting and eternal life”. Jesus Christ
fulfilled God's law to perfection, and yet He paid the price of death
on the cross as though He was guilty. This gave “access” to the
Heavenly Father where every believer in Jesus Christ shall be “saved”
from death's final outcome, and live eternally with God. The price
for “sin” has been paid, and the “gift of eternal
life” is promised to all who simply will believe.
Next
time we begin a new chapter and see Paul tells the people in Rome
what happens since,
“being made free from sin, and become servants to God”,
so read ahead, and we shall join together then.

tomorrow…there is more…
