Paul
the apostle told the people in Rome,
“They
which are the children of the flesh, these are
not the children of God: but the children of the promise are counted
for the seed”,
and in
chapter nine and verse eight of Romans,
Paul told his readers, “the
word of promise...Sara shall have a son”
where
we read:
For
this is
the word of promise, At this time will I come, and Sara shall have a
son.
The
verse begins, “
For this is
the word of promise, At this time will I come, ...”
Paul
began with the words, “for”
which means “even as, indeed, no doubt, seeing then, verily and
therefore” “this
is the word” or
“herein lies the decree, mandate, order, declaration, aphorism,
weighty saying, dictum and maxim”
“of promise”
which means “pertaining to the announcement of good or blessing”,
“at
this time”
or “in due measure or at the opportune or seasonable period”
“will
I come”
which refers to “would God appear, arise, show forth himself, be
established and become known”. Paul shared how God would “appear”
and fulfill His promise to Abraham and Sara.
The
verse continues, “...
and Sara shall have a son.”
Paul
added the words, “and
Sara”
whose name means “princess” and is “the wife of Abraham”
“shall
have a son”
which means “will possess a male offspring and descendant”. Paul
completed his thoughts with
“Sara”
having a baby boy who was named “Isaac”.
When
we meditate upon these words of Paul, we see how God had His timing
for the conception and birth of “Isaac”. Abraham and Sara were
given “a promise” by God, and He fulfilled that “promise”
with “Sara” conceiving in her old age. God's delays,
according to our time, should not be mistaken as His lack for keeping
His promise. God always keeps His promises, and when He sent Jesus
Christ to save people from their “sins”, God kept His promise as
well. Everyone who receives Jesus Christ as their “Savior and Lord”
knows the fulfillment of God's promise to mankind, and a relationship
with the Almighty God and Creator of the Universe is provided to
everyone who will “rely upon, cling to and trust in” Jesus
Christ.
Next
time we
see Paul refer to,
“when Rebecca also had conceived”,
so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until
tomorrow…there is more…
