No Condemnation to Them in Jesus Romans 8:1

Paul the apostle exclaimed to the people in Rome,O wretched man that I am!” as he asked, “who shall deliver me from the body of this death?”, and he answered, “I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord. So then with the mind I myself serve the law of God; but with the flesh the law of sin.” In chapter eight and verse one of Romans, Paul shared with his readers how, “there is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus” where we read:

There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus,
who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.

The verse begins, There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, ...” Paul began with the words, “there is therefore” which means “so then and wherefore” “now” or “at this present moment and time” “no condemnation” or “not one damnatory sentence” “to them” which means “toward the people” “which are in” or “who are with and by” “Christ” which refers to “the anointed One, the Messiah and the Son of God” “Jesus” whose name means “the Son of God, the Savior of mankind and God incarnate”. Paul shared how there is no “damnation” for people who have received Jesus Christ as their personal “Savior and Lord”.

The verse goes on to say, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.” Paul continued with the words, “who walk” which means “who live, progress and make their way and due use of opportunities” “not after the flesh” or “not down from, through out, according to, toward and along the mere human nature and earthly nature of man apart from divine influence and therefore prone to sin and opposed to God” “but after” which means “nevertheless and notwithstanding down from, through out, according to, toward and along” “the Spirit” or “the third person of the triune God who is the Holy Spirit and coequal, coeternal with the Father and the Son”. Those who have received Jesus Christ as their personal “Savior and Lord” now live their lives according to “God's Holy Spirit” instead of their “sinful and fleshly nature”.

When we think through these words of Paul, we see the huge benefit to having a relationship with God through His Son Jesus. Those who have received Jesus Christ as their personal “Savior and Lord” no longer live according to their “sinful fleshly nature”, but according to the ways of “the Spirit” of the living God. This substitution of living is only produced through the power of God Almighty who indwells every person that accepts His Son Jesus as “Lord” of their lives, and when they do, they no longer live in a “condemned” state. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. He that believes on him is not condemned: but he that believes not is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.” John 3:16-17

Next time Paul shares tells his readers concerning, “the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
