Paul
the apostle told the people in Rome, “faith
comes
by hearing, and hearing by the word of God”
and
in
chapter ten and verse seventeen of Romans,
Paul asked another question concerning people receiving the gospel
and stated, “how
beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace”
where
we read:
But
I say, Have they not heard? Yes verily, their sound went into all the
earth,
and
their words unto the ends of the world.
The
verse begins, “But
I say, Have they not heard? Yes verily, their sound went into all the
earth,
...”
Paul
began with the word, “but”
which is a disassociation conjunction that means what is about to be
written takes precedence over what was just stated “I
say”
which means “Paul questioned”, “have
they not heard”
or “have people not been endowed with hearing, attended to,
understood and perceived”? “Yes
verily”
which means “no rather and doubtless”, “their
sound”
which refers to “those who preach the gospel and “good news” of
Jesus Christ” “went
into all”
or “was emitted, flowed forth, emanated and issue toward each,
every, the whole and every place in” “the
earth”
which means “the arable land and inhabited world which is the abode
of men and animals”. Paul rhetorically questioned whether people in
the world had “heard”
the preaching of the “gospel”,
and he answered, “Yes indeed!”
The
verse continues, “...
and their words unto the ends of the world.”
Paul
added the words, “and
their words”
which means “and the uttering sounds of living voices, speeches,
discourses and series of words joined together into a sentence”
“unto
the ends”
or “towards the extremity, boundaries and remotest lands”
“of the world”
which refers to “pertaining to the inhabited earth”. Paul shared
how the “words of preachers” concerning the “gospel of Jesus
Christ” reached into the “lands of the entire” “world”.
When
we meditate upon these words of Paul, we discovered that he answered
his own question about whether people “heard” the “good
news” of God. The “gospel of Jesus Christ” was spread
into all the “world”, and this “good news” continues
to be shared today. God sent His Son Jesus Christ to die for the sins
of the whole “world”, and Jesus was resurrected from the
dead after three days and now lives in Heaven with God. He provided
the way for everyone everywhere to be “saved” from future
destruction, and this message should be “heard” by all of
them. Let every person who reads these words believe and trust in
Jesus Christ as their personal “Savior and Lord” and be a part of
spreading this “good news” to everyone in the “world”.
Next
time we
see Paul asks his readers, “Did
not Israel know?”,
so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until
tomorrow…there is more…
