God Has Not Cast Away His People Romans 11:2

Paul the apostle asked the people in Rome, “Has God cast away his people?, and he answered, “God forbid. For I also am an Israelite, of the seed of Abraham, of the tribe of Benjamin”. In chapter eleven and verse two of Romans, Paul affirmed, “God has not cast away his people” where we read:

God has not cast away his people which he foreknew. Do you not know what the scripture says of Elijah? how he makes intercession to God against Israel, saying,
The verse begins, God has not cast away his people which he foreknew. Paul began with the words, “God” which refers to “the Godhead bodily and trinity which is comprised of God the Father, Christ the Son and the Holy Spirit” “has not cast away” or “has not put away, thrust away or repelled” “his people” or “God's chosen people Israel or the Jews” “which he foreknew” which means “whom God foreordained, knew in advance and predestined”. Paul emphatically shared how God had not “thrust away or repelled” His “foreordained” people Israel.

The verse continues, “Do you not know what the scripture says of Elijah? how he makes intercession to God against Israel, saying, Paul added the words, “do you not know” which means “did Paul's readers not understand, perceive or comprehend” “what the scripture” or “that which the certain portion or section of the Holy Scripture” “says” which means “declares, affirms, proclaims, teaches and maintains” “of Elijah” or “pertaining to the prophet whose name means “my God is Jehovah” who was born at Thisbe and was the unflinching champion of the theocracy in the reigns of the idolatrous kings Ahab and Ahaziah”? “How he makes” or “the way God forms and fashions” “intercession” which means “to go or meet a person especially for the purpose of conversation, consultation or supplication” “to God” or “toward the Godhead bodily and trinity which is comprised of God the Father, Christ the Son and the Holy Spirit” “against” or “down from, throughout, according to and toward” “Israel” which means “he shall be a prince or governed by God” and refers to “the name given to the patriarch Jacob and his family or descendants”. Paul questioned his readers whether they knew the scripture concerning Elijah “making supplication” on behalf of his country Israel.

When we consider these words of Paul, we see yet another example of the way God has not “forsaken” His “foreknown” chosen people Israel. God desires for all people to be “saved” through a relationship with His Son Jesus Christ, and He has not “cast away” Israel. He has not forsaken anyone who will turn to Him in repentance for their sins. May all who read these words know they are not “rforsaken” by God, and yield to Him in “faith and trust” today.

Next time we begin a new chapter and see Paul ask the question, they have killed your prophets, and dug down thine altars”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
