Paul
the apostle told the people in Rome when considering “salvation”
from God,
“there
is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for
the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him”,
and in
chapter ten and verse thirteen of Romans,
Paul told his readers, “whosoever
shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved”
where
we read:
For
whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
The
verse begins, “For
whosoever shall call ...”
Paul
began with the words, “for”
which means “even as, indeed, no doubt, seeing then, verily and
therefore ” “whosoever”
which means “whatever person whether male or female” “shall
call upon”
or “will appeal unto, summon and invoke”. Paul referred to anyone
anywhere who “makes an appeal and summons”.
The
verse continues, “...
upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”
Paul
added the words, “upon
the name”
which means “on the which the name covers including everything the
thoughts or feelings which are aroused in the mind by mentioning,
hearing and remembering” “of
the Lord”
which means “pertaining to he to whom a person or thing belongs,
about which he has power of deciding; master and the title given to
God the Messiah”
“shall be saved”
or “will be kept safe and sound and rescued from danger or
destruction”. If anyone “calls”
upon
“the
Lord's name”,
Paul said they would be “kept from danger and destruction”.
When
we think through these words of Paul, we see how there is no
distinction between Jews and Greeks when they “call upon the
name of the Lord”. God's invitation to receive His Son Jesus
Christ as their personal “Savior and Lord” is given to every
person. Everyone, and that includes every person reading these words,
may receive Jesus Christ be the benefactors of “eternal salvation”
from God Almighty. “Call upon the name of the Lord” and be
“saved”.
Next
time we
see Paul asks his readers, “How
then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed?”,
so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until
tomorrow…there is more…
