Paul
the apostle told the people in Rome,
“That
if you shall confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus, and shall
believe in your heart that God has raised him from the dead, you
shall be saved. For with the heart man believes unto righteousness;
and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.” He
added, “For
the scripture says, Whosoever believes on him shall not be ashamed”,
and in
chapter ten and verse twelve of Romans,
Paul refers to the scriptures as he tells his readers “no
difference between the Jew and the Greek”
where
we read:
For
there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek:
for
the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him.
The
verse begins, “For
there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek:”
Paul
began with the words, “for”
which means “even as, indeed, no doubt, seeing then, verily and
therefore ” “there
is no difference”
which means “there exists no distinction or variation” “between”
or “whether a person is of” “the
Jew”
which refers to “belonging to the Jewish nation” “and
the Greek”
which refers to “a person who in a wider sense lives within the
nations that are not Jews that made the language, customs, and
learning of the Greeks their own”. Paul shared how God puts no
“distinction” between people who are
“Jewish”
and people who come from any other nation.
The
verse goes on to say, “for
the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him.”
Paul
continued with the word, “for”
which means “even as, indeed, no doubt, seeing then, verily and
therefore” “the
same”
which means “the selfsame and identical”
“Lord”
or “he to whom a person or thing belongs, about which he has power
of deciding; master and the title given to God the Messiah” “over
all”
which means “above each, every, any, the whole, everyone, all
things and everything ” “is
rich”
or “has abundant supply and is affluent”
“unto all” which
means “to each, every, the whole and everyone” “that
call upon him”
or “who cries out, summons and invokes the Lord”. Paul shared how
God has an “abundant supply” for everyone who “cries out and
summons” Him.
When
we meditate upon these words of Paul, we see how God makes no
“distinction or variation” between a person who is a “Jew”
and one who is not. When a person receives Jesus Christ as their
personal “Savior and Lord” by “believing and trusting” in
Him, they enjoy the “abundant provision” that God has waiting for
them. God desires to save everyone, and those who are wise shall
“call upon Him” regardless of their nationality or station
in life.
Next
time we
see Paul tells his readers, “whosoever
shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved”,
so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until
tomorrow…there is more…
