Paul
the apostle told the people in Rome,
“God
has concluded them all in unbelief, that he might have mercy upon
all”,
and in
chapter eleven and verse thirty-three of Romans,
Paul told his believing readers about, “the
wisdom and knowledge of God”
where we
read:
O
the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God!
how
unsearchable are
his judgments, and his ways past finding out!
The
verse begins, “O
the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! ”
Paul
began with the words, “O
the depth”
which means “oh the extremely deep” “of
the riches”
which refers to “pertaining to the wealth, abundance of external
possessions, fullness and plenitude” “both”
which means“even, also and indeed” “of
the wisdom”
or “pertaining to the broad and full intelligence and skill in the
management of affairs” “and
knowledge”
which refers to “the general intelligence and understanding” “of
God”
which refers to “the Godhead bodily and trinity which is comprised
of God the Father, Christ the Son and the Holy Spirit”. Paul
exalted the “depth”
of God's “full intelligence, skill in management and
understanding”.
The
verse goes on to say, “how
unsearchable are
his judgments, and his ways past finding out!”.
Paul
continued with the words, “how
unsearchable” or
“inscrutable and not able to be searched out” “are
his judgments”
which
means “are God's decrees, sentences and judicial decisions”, “and
his ways”
or “God's course of conduct, manner of thinking, feeling and
deciding”
“past finding out”
which means “beyond the ability to search for or be comprehended”.
Paul declared God's “judgments” and
“ways”
beyond the ability for people to discover or “comprehend”.
When
we meditate upon these words of Paul, we see his excitement to unveil
the magnitude of God's “ways” and “judgments”.
God's “wisdom” goes beyond the ability to “understand”,
and His “knowledge” is “past” “comprehension”.
God is sovereign, and His decision to offer “salvation” to
both Jew and Gentile is beyond “understanding”, and the fact that
He employed Israel to bring forth His Son and Messiah Jesus, and
later offered Him to the “Gentiles” goes far beyond man's
“wisdom and knowledge”. God desires for every person to be
“saved” from the wrath to come, and when they put their “faith
and trust” in Jesus Christ His Son, they shall inherit not only His
“mercy” for their sins, but also the promise of
“everlasting life”. No one else could offer such a
wonderful plan for mankind, and only the “riches and knowledge”
of God could supply it.
Next
time Paul asks his believing readers in Rome, “who
has known the mind of the Lord? or who has been his counselor?”,
so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until
tomorrow…there is more…
