Doing the Law of God Romans 10:5

Paul the apostle told the people in Rome, “Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believes”, and in chapter ten and verse five of Romans, Paul shared Moses' description of God's law where he said, “the man which does those things shall live by them” where we read:

For Moses describes the righteousness which is of the law,
That the man which does those things shall live by them.
The verse begins, “For Moses describes the righteousness which is of the law, ...Paul began with the words, “for” which means “even as, indeed, no doubt, seeing then, verily and therefore” “Moses” whose name means “drawing out” and was “the legislator of the Jewish people and in a certain sense the founder of the Jewish religion who wrote the first five books of the Bible which are commonly referred to as the Books of Moses” “describes” which means “delineates or formed letters on a tablet, parchment, paper or other material” “the righteousness” which means “the state of him who is as he ought to be and the condition acceptable to God” “which is of the law” or “that pertains to the rule producing a state approved of God”. Paul referred to the manner in which “Moses” wrote about “the condition acceptable to God” which was contained in “the law” . (See Leviticus 18:5)

The verse goes on to say, “... that the man which does those things shall live by them. Paul continued with the words, “that the man” which means “so the person” “which does those things” which means “prepares, produces, bears and shoots forth the same laws” “shall live” or “will be active, have true life and be worthy” “by them” which refers to “through the things of the law”. Paul shared how the person who does the “commandments of God” obeys His “law”.

When we consider these words of Paul, we see how Moses knew there was a “righteousness” that could be obtained by keeping God's “law” perfectly. The “law of God” was recognized by Moses as being the standard of “righteousness”, and anyone who obeyed “God's commandments” conducted themselves according to them. Jesus Christ is the only person who ever kept “the law of God” perfectly, and because He did, He became the perfect sacrifice for the “sins” of every person in the world. By dying on the cross, Jesus paid the penalty for every violation of “God's law”, and when a person receives Jesus Christ as their personal “Savior and Lord”, His “righteousness” becomes their “righteousness” and the divine requirement for “everlasting life” has been fulfilled.

Next time we see Paul tell his readers how, the righteousness which is of faith speaks, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.

Until tomorrow…there is more…
