Paul
the apostle asked the people in Rome,
“Behold
therefore the goodness and severity of God: on them which fell,
severity”,
and he continued, “but
toward you, goodness, if you continue in his
goodness: otherwise thou also shall be cut off.”
In
chapter eleven and verse twenty-three of Romans,
Paul told the people in Rome how God is able to “graft”
Israel “in
again”
where
we read:
And
they also, if they abide not still in unbelief,
shall
be grafted in: for God is able to graft them in again.
The
verse begins, “And
they also, if they abide not still in unbelief, ...”
Paul
began with the words, “and
they also”
which means “and the people who are from Israel”, “if
they abide not”
or “whether the people in Israel stay, tarry, abide, continue and
remain” “still
in unbelief”
or “in unfaithfulness, faithlessness and disbelief”. Paul
presented the condition that some of the people from Israel would not
“remain” in “disbelief” of the “gospel of Jesus Christ”.
The
verse continues, “
… shall be grafted in: for God is able to graft them in again.”.
Paul
added the words, “shall
be grafted in” or
“will be cut into for the sake of inserting a scion, to inoculate
and graft in” “for
God”
which
means “even as, indeed, no doubt, seeing then, verily and therefore
the Godhead bodily and trinity which is comprised of God the Father,
Christ the Son and the Holy Spirit” “is
able” or
“exists as powerful, mighty and strong in wealth and influence”
“to
graft them”
which means “to cut into for the sake of inserting a scion, to
inoculate and graft in the believers in Israel”
“in again” or
“in anew, further and in turn”. Paul shared how people who are
from Israel may be “grafted in” again when they believe God's
“good news” through Jesus Christ.
When
we consider these words of Paul, we see how God is constantly ready
to secure a relationship with people who believe and trust in His Son
Jesus Christ. Though the people in Israel refused Him as their
Messiah, those within Israel who believe in Him shall be “grafted”
back into their relationship with God. Jesus Christ came into the
world to save sinners, and everyone has sinned. Both Jews and
Gentiles are separated from God and may only be brought back into
fellowship with Him through His Son Jesus who lived a perfect life
and died on the cross for the sins of the world. God desires to
“graft in” everyone who surrenders their life to Him, and
those who are reading these words would do best to heed His
invitation to be “grafted”.
Next
time Paul shares with his believing readers in Rome, “if
you were cut out of the olive tree which is wild by nature”,
so read ahead, and we shall join together then.

tomorrow…there is more…
