Recompensed Again Romans 11:35

After sharing about God desiring to extend his “mercy” to all people, Paul the apostle excitedly declared to the people in Rome, O the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God!”, and he added, “how unsearchable are his judgments, and his ways past finding out!” He continued with the questions, “For who has known the mind of the Lord? or who has been his counselor?” In chapter eleven and verse thirty-five of Romans, Paul continued his questions to his believing readers by asking, “who has first given...and it shall be recompensed unto him again?” where we read:

Or who has first given to him, and it shall be recompensed unto him again?
The verse begins, Or who has first given to him, ...Paul began with the words, “or who” which means “or what person whether male or female” “has first given” which means “has before bestowed and granted” “to him” which refers to“to God Himself”. Paul presented the question as to what person has “given” before to God?

The verse goes on to say, ... and it shall be recompensed unto him again? . Paul continued with the words, “and it shall be recompensed” which means “repaid and requited” “unto him” or “to the giving person” “again” which means “once again”? Paul continued his question by providing the answer that the person who “gives” to God “first” shall be “repaid and requited” for their “giving”.

When we consider these words of Paul, we discover how God “repays” those who “give” to Him. Though He is the source of everything which is given, “the earth is the Lord's and the fullness thereof, the world, and they that dwell therein” (Psalm 24:1), God allows people to “give” to Him, and He “repays” them when they do. The gospel of Jesus Christ is God's gift to mankind, and He desires that everyone “believe and trust” in His Son Jesus. When people receive Jesus, regardless of whether they are Jew or Gentile, God will bless them as they “give” unto Him.

Next time Paul tells his believing readers in Rome, “of him, and through him, and to him, are all things, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
