Ministering and Teaching Romans 12:7

Paul the apostle told the believing people in Rome, “Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us, whether prophecy, let us prophesy according to the proportion of faith”, and in chapter twelve and verse seven of Romans, Paul shared with his believing readers in Rome about the “gifts” of, “ministering” and “teaching” where we read:

Or ministry, let us wait on our ministering: or he that teaches, on teaching;
The verse begins, Or ministry, let us wait on our ministering:Paul began with the words, “or ministry” which means “service or executing the commands of others to help meet needs or to offer relief”, “let us wait on” or “allow and permit Paul, his companions and his believing readers be about and concerned with” “our ministering” which means “Paul, his companions and his believing readers' service or executing the commands of others to help meet needs or to offer relief”. Paul shared how people with the “gift of ministry” were to do so completely and with the intent for which “ministry” was given by God.

The verse continues, or he that teaches, on teaching;. Paul added the words, “or he that teaches” which means “or the person whether male or female who holds discourse with others in order to instruct them or deliver didactic discourses”, “on teaching” or “with holding discourse with other in order to instruct or deliver didactic discourses”. Paul referred to the “gift” of “teaching” within the church, and those who possess this “gift” are to exercise it while giving “instruction and delivering” God's word.

When we think through these words of Paul, we see the significance of the “gifts” of “ministry” and “teaching” within the church. Each of them are to be exercised by those who possess them according to the way God desires they be used. “Serving” and “teaching” people who have received Jesus Christ as their personal “Savior and Lord” builds them up in the faith and allows them to be used to share Jesus with others. Oh may the Spirit of God may empower each person who has the “gift of ministry and teaching” to function according to the full measure of God's intent for His “gifts”.

Next time Paul includes, “exhortationand “ruling” and “showing mercy”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.

Until tomorrow…there is more…
