Paul's Heart's Desire for Israel Romans 10:1

Paul the apostle told the people in Rome how Isaiah in the Old Testament wrote, “Behold, I lay in Sion a stumbling-stone and rock of offense: and whosoever believes on him shall not be ashamed”, and in chapter ten and verse one of Romans, Paul shared with his readers concerning his, “heart's desire and prayer to God for Israel” where we read:

Brethren, my heart's desire and prayer to God for Israel is, that they might be saved.
The verse begins, Brethren, my heart's desire and prayer to God for Israel, ...Paul began with the words, “brethren” which means “fellow believers who are united to another by the bond of affection”, “my heart's” or “Paul's soul or mind as it is the fountain and seat of the thoughts, passions, desires, appetites, affections, purposes and endeavors ” “desire” which means “will, choice, kindly intent, delight and pleasure” “and prayer” which means “need, indigence, want, privation and penury” “to God” or “to the Godhead bodily and trinity which is comprised of God the Father, Christ the Son and the Holy Spirit” “for Israel” which means “on behalf of and for the sake of the nation of Israel and it's people”. Paul shared his “passion”,“desire” and “prayer” before “God” for the people of “Israel”.

The verse continues, “... is that they might be saved.” Paul added the words, “is that they might which means “is that Israel may” “be saved” which means “delivered, preserved and safe”. Paul desired and “prayed” for Israel's “future salvation, the sum of benefits and blessings which the Christians, redeemed from all earthly ills, will enjoy after the visible return of Christ from heaven in the consummated and eternal kingdom of God”.

When we think through these words of Paul, we see how he had a passion for “Israel” to be “eternally saved”. Israel, for the most part, rejected Jesus Christ as the Messiah, and Paul knew this. Paul “prayed” that God would “save” them, and he lived his life with the thought of them receiving Jesus as their “Savior and Lord”. This is the “desire and passion” of anyone who realizes the “lost” in the world need to know Jesus as their personal “Savior”, and without Jesus they are eternally doomed. Let everyone who reads these words see the passion of this writer and receive Jesus Christ as “Savior and Lord” today.

Next time Paul tells his readers how Israel has, “a zeal of God, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.

Until tomorrow…there is more…
