Paul
the apostle told the people in Rome,
“For
as you in times past have not believed God, yet have now obtained
mercy through their unbelief”,
and he added, “Even
so have these also now not believed,
that
through your mercy they also may obtain mercy.”
In
chapter eleven and verse thirty-two of Romans,
Paul told his believing readers, “God
has concluded them all in unbelief”
where we
read:
For
God has concluded them all in unbelief,
that
he might have mercy upon all.
The
verse begins, “For
God has concluded them all in unbelief,
...”
Paul
began with the word, “for”
which means “indeed, no doubt, seeing then, verily and therefore”
“God”
which refers to the Godhead bodily and trinity which is comprised of
God the Father, Christ the Son and the Holy Spirit” “has
concluded”
which means“shut up on all sides and completely” “them
all”
which refers to “every person” “in
unbelief”
which means “obstinate and opposed to the divine will”. Paul
shared how God evaluated everyone as “obstinate” to His perfect
will.
The
verse goes on to say, “...
that he might have mercy upon all.”.
Paul
continued with the words, “that
he might have mercy” or
“so God could have pity on, help and bring aid to the afflicted and
wretched”
“upon
all”
or “toward everyone”. Paul shared how God's desire was to “pity
and help” those who were “wretched” and in need of “help”.
When
we consider these words of Paul, we see how all the world is “guilty”
before God. As Paul stated in Romans chapter three and verse ten,
“there is none righteous, no, not one”. Because no one is
“holy” or “righteous” other than Jesus, God is now able to
share His “mercy” upon every person who yields their life
to His Son Jesus. Jesus came to die on the cross for “unbelievers”,
and when they turn to Him in “belief”, His abundant “pity and
help” are immediately available.
Next
time Paul tells his believing readers in Rome about, “the
depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God”,
so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until
tomorrow…there is more…
