Depart from Me into Everlasting Fire - Matthew 25:41

Matthew the apostle wrote how Jesus told His disciples, I was an hungry, and you gave me meat: I was thirsty, and you gave me drink: I was a stranger, and you took me in: Naked, and you clothed me: I was sick, and you visited me: I was in prison, and you came unto me.” Jesus continued, “Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we you an hungry, and fed you? or thirsty, and gave you drink? When saw we you a stranger, and took you in? or naked, and clothed you? Or when saw we you sick, or in prison, and came unto you? And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as you have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, you have done it unto me”, and in chapter twenty-five and verse forty-one of his book, Matthew writes how Jesus said, “Depart from me, you cursed, into everlasting fire” where we read:

Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me,

you cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels:

The verse reads, Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ...” Matthew began with Jesus' word, “then” which means “at that time and moment” “shall he say also unto them” or “shall the King who is Jesus utter, declare and proclaim to the nations and people who are” “on the left hand” which means “put, placed and set on King Jesus' left hand side”, “Depart from me” or “traverse, remove and go away from Jesus”. Matthew shared how Jesus said the “King”, who is Jesus, will tell the nations who are on His left side to “remove themselves and go away” from Him.

The verse goes on to say, “... you cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels:” Matthew continued with Jesus' words, “you cursed” which means “you doomed and imprecated with evil”, “into everlasting fire” which means “into never ending or ceasing fiery fire”, “prepared” or “made ready and provided” “for the devil” which refers to “for the slanderer, falsely accusing, calumniator and false accuser who is Satan” “and his angels” which means “and Satan's ministers”. Matthew shared how Jesus said those on His “left side” are “doomed” and charged to enter into “eternal flame” which was made in advance for “Satan” and his “messengers”.

When we think through Matthew's words in this verse, we see the daunting fate for people who Jesus calls “cursed” or “doomed”. Because they have not submitted themselves to Jesus Christ, they are among the “condemned” who shall forever live in “eternal fire” where “Satan” and his servants are destined to be. God does not want any person to go to this horrific place, and only those who refuse to receive Jesus as their personal “Savior and Lord” shall receive “eternal punishment” in the place which was prepared for “Satan” and his “angels”. Let all who read these words consider carefully the words of the Lord Jesus and yield their lives to Him today.

Next time Matthew writes how Jesus shares how the King will say, “for I was hungry, and you gave me no meat: I was thirsty, and you gave me no drink”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
