To Galilee After Jesus is Risen - Matthew 26:32

Matthew the apostle wrote how Jesus told His disciples, All of you shall be offended because of me this night: for it is written, I will smite the shepherd, and the sheep of the flock shall be scattered abroad.”, and in chapter twenty-six and verse thirty-two of his book, Matthew writes how Jesus said, “after I am risen again, I will go before you” where we read:

But after I am risen again, I will go before you into Galilee.

The verse reads, But after I am risen again, ...” Matthew began word, “but” which means “nevertheless, moreover and” “after” or “following the time” “I am risen again” which means “Jesus arises from the sleep of death”. Matthew shared how Jesus referred to the time “after” He is resurrected from the dead.

The verse goes on to say, “... I will go before you into Galilee.” Matthew added the words, “I will go before” which means “Jesus will precede, be prior in time and previous to the disciples arrival” “you” or “His disciples” “into Galilee” which refers to “the name of a region of northern Palestine, bounded on the north by Syria, on the west by Sidon, Tyre, Ptolemais and their territories and the promontory of Carmel, on the south by Samaria and on the east by the Jordan whose name means circuit”. Matthew shared how Jesus told His disciples He would “precede” them to the area of “Galilee” after His resurrection.

When we consider Matthew's words in this verse, we see how Jesus not only knew He would “die” for the sins of the world, but He would also be “raised from the dead” and precede the disciples into “Galilee”. He told His disciples these things, but they really did not perceive what He was saying. Matthew wrote these words knowing his readers needed to know Jesus' purpose and plan for their “salvation”, and even though Jesus knew He would die, be resurrected and go into Galilee afterward, He continued with His mission. God loves people, and His plan is to “save” them from their sins. All who read Jesus' words should discover the deliberate way He intended to pay the price for their sins, and they should respond by yielding their lives in faith and belief in the only One who has the capacity to know and save.

Next time Matthew shares how Jesus says, “though all men shall be offended because of you, yet will I never”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
