Matthew the apostle wrote how Jesus told His disciples when they minister to people who are “hungry, thirsty, naked, sick and in prison”, they are actually serving Him. He said, “Inasmuch as you have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, you have done it unto me”, and Jesus continued, “Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, you cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels”. In chapter twenty-five and verse forty-two of his book, Matthew writes how Jesus said, “for I was hungry, and you gave me no meat: I was thirsty, and you gave me no drink” where we read:
For I was hungry, and you gave me no meat: I was thirsty, and you gave me no drink:
The verse reads, “For I was hungry, and you gave me no meat:” Matthew began with Jesus' word, “for” which means “because, since and on account that” “I was hungry” or “Jesus was in want or need of food”, “and you gave me” which means “and those who were on Jesus' left side did not grant, bestow, supply or furnish” “no meat” or “any food or nourishment”. Matthew shared how Jesus said those who were on His left hand did not “feed” Him when He was “hungry”.
The verse continues, “I was thirsty, and you gave me no drink:” Matthew added Jesus' words, “I was thirsty” which means “Jesus was suffering from thirst”, “and you gave me” which means “and those upon His left hand did not grant, bestow, furnish or supply” “no drink” which means “any water or irrigation”. Matthew shared how Jesus said He had need of “drink”, and those upon His left hand provided no water or liquid.
When we consider Matthew's words in this verse, we see how there is a direct relationship between ministering to people who are “hungry and thirsty” and serving the Lord Jesus. The idea is when a person “serves” people who are in “want and need” of physical sustenance, they actually minister to Jesus Himself. God knows all people have a “hunger and thirst” in their souls for a relationship with Him, and nothing else will satisfy that void. God “feeds” the “hungry” and He gives “drink to the thirsty”, and when people submit themselves to His Son Jesus as their personal “Savior and Lord”, they are to manifest the same spirit in the physical world. Let all who read these words hear the words spoken by Jesus to these on His “left side” and turn their lives toward Him to align with His ways and minister to those who “hunger and thirst”.
Next time Matthew writes how Jesus shares how the “cursed”, “Lord, when say we you hungry, or thirsty, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
