Jesus Begins to Speak Again - Matthew 26:1

Matthew the apostle wrote how Jesus told His disciples about people who do not minister to Him through those who are “hungry, thirsty, naked, sick and in prison”. He said, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as you did it not to one of the least of these, you did it not to me”, and Jesus concluded, “these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal”. In chapter twenty-six and verse one of his book, Matthew writes how Jesus “finished all these saying” and began to speak to his disciples again where we read:

And it came to pass, when Jesus had finished all these sayings, he said unto his disciples,

The verse reads, And it came to pass, when Jesus had finished all these sayings, ...” Matthew began with Jesus' words, “and it came to pass” which means “and it came into existence, happened and appeared”, “when Jesus” or “at the time and moment Jesus whose name means Jehovah is Salvation and is the Son of God, the Savior of mankind and God incarnate” “had finished” which means “completed, executed and performed” “all these sayings” or “each, every, the whole and everyone of the teachings Jesus spoke about the “hungry, thirsty, naked, sick and in prison” and the final judgment for those who follow Jesus and those who do not” . Matthew began to share more about Jesus as He concluded His words concerning ministering to people in need.

The verse goes on to say, “... he said unto his disciples,” Matthew continued with the words, “he said” which means “Jesus uttered, declared and proclaimed” “unto his disciples” which means “to his students, pupils and attendants”. Matthew shared how Jesus began once again to speak to his “student followers”.

When we consider Matthew's words in this verse, we should be inspired to listen closely to this next topic Jesus declares. God had a plan for Jesus to come to the earth, die for the sins of mankind and be raised from the dead so people might live “eternally” with Him. Jesus carried out this process by making statements and telling stories as well as prophesies concerning the “Kingdom of God”. Those who are wise will carefully regard Jesus' words and yield themselves to everything He proclaims.

Next time we will see what Matthew said Jesus declared to his disciples, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
