Peter Denies Jesus Again - John 18:27

John the apostle wrote how concerning Jesus how, Annas had sent him bound unto Caiaphas the high priest. And Simon Peter stood and warmed himself. They said therefore unto him, Are not you also one of his disciples? He denied it, and said, I am not. One of the servants of the high priest, being his kinsman whose ear Peter cut off, said, Did not I see thee in the garden with him?”, and in chapter eighteen and verse twenty-seven of his book John shared how, “Peter then denied again” where we read:

Peter then denied again: and immediately the cock crew.

The verse reads,Peter then denied again: John began with the words, “Peter then” which means “Peter whose name means a little rock or stone and was Jesus' disciple” “denied again” or “abnegated, abjured, did not accept and rejected Jesus another time”. John shared how Jesus' disciple “Peter” refused to acknowledge His relationship with Jesus yet another time.

The verse continues, “and immediately the cock crew.” John added the words, “and immediately” or “and straightway and forthwith” “the cock crew” which means “the male bird or rooster emitted it's sound and cried aloud”. John shared how a “rooster” “immediately” crowed after “Peter denied” knowing Jesus for the third time.

When we consider John's words in this verse, we discover the fulfillment of Jesus' words concerning “Peter”. Though he promised he would never “deny” Jesus, “Peter denied” Him three times. Jesus loved “Peter”, and although “Peter” thought himself to be greater, more brave and so much different from anyone else, he “denied” knowing the Lord Jesus when he was under pressure. God knows people's limits, and He loves them. He sent His Son Jesus to die on the cross for their sins so they may live with Him forever. The strength of the relationship with God will always be with God Himself, and because His Son Jesus died for the sins of the world, all who receive Him will be forgiven of their sins and inherit everlasting life with God. Let all who over believe in themselves like “Peter” did humble themselves, yield to Jesus and receive His wonderful provision of “salvation”.

Next time we see John share how the high priest and officers led, “Jesus from Caiaphas unto the hall of judgment”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
