The Saying of Jesus Fulfilled - John 18:32

The apostle John wrote how the high priests and officers led, Jesus from Caiaphas unto the hall of judgment: and it was early; and they themselves went not into the judgment hall, lest they should be defiled; but that they might eat the passover. Pilate then went out unto them, and said, What accusation bring you against this man? They answered and said unto him, If he were not a malefactor, we would not have delivered him up unto you. Then said Pilate unto them, Take you him, and judge him according to your law. The Jews therefore said unto him, It is not lawful for us to put any man to death”, and in chapter eighteen and verse thirty-two of his book John shared how this happened so, “the saying of Jesus might be fulfilled” where we read:

That the saying of Jesus might be fulfilled, which he spoke, signifying what death he should die.

The verse reads,That the saying of Jesus might be fulfilled, which he spoke, ... John began with the words, “that the saying of Jesus” which means “so the uttering, declaration and proclamation belonging to the Son of God, the Savior of mankind and God incarnate whose name means Jehovah is Salvation” “might be fulfilled” or “would be completed, liberally supplied and rendered full”, “which he spoke” which means “that he, Jesus, uttered, declared and proclaimed” concerning the following. John shared how the Jewish people who wanted Jesus to be put to death fulfilled the words of Jesus about the following.

The verse goes on to say, “... signifying what death he should die.” John continued with the words, “signifying what death” or “indicating and giving a sign as to the nature and sort of separation of the soul and the body by which life on earth is ended” “he should die” which means “he, Jesus, was to perish and be dead”. John shared how the Jewish people desiring for Jesus to be killed actually fulfilled the way Jesus said He was going to “die”.

When we meditate upon John's words in this verse, we learn how the Jewish people who desired for Jesus to be “killed” was fulfilling His own words concerning His death. Jesus previously told His disciples that He would be put to death, however, they could not hear Him at that time. Jesus came to the earth to demonstrate the love of God toward people, and because He was to “die” for the sins of all mankind, everyone who submits their life to Him will be forgiven of their sins and granted everlasting life with God. Let all who read these words understand that Jesus fulfilled His own prophecy concerning His death, and He did so to provide them with eternal life.

Next time we see John share how Pilate asks Jesus, “Are you the King of the Jews?”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
