As in the Days of Noah - Luke 17:26

The beloved physician Luke wrote how Jesus said He must, “suffer many things, and be rejected of this generation”, and in chapter seventeen and verse twenty-six of his book Luke wrote how Jesus said, “as it was in the days of Noah, so shall it be” where we read:

And as it was in the days of Noah, so shall it be also in the days of the Son of man.

The verse reads, “And as it was in the days of Noah, ... Luke began with the words, “and as it was” or “in the same manner and likeness of the existence” “in the days” which means “within the time period” “of Noah” or “pertaining to Noah whose name means rest and was the tenth in descent from Adam and the second father of the human family”. Luke shared how Jesus referred to the time of “Noah” as He began to describe the following.

The verse goes on to say,... so shall it be also in the days of the Son of man.Luke continued with the words, “so shall it be also” or “thus and in this manner will time exist” “in the days of the Son of man” which means “within the time period of the Son of man who was the progeny of God or Jesus”. Luke shared how Jesus declared when “He” appears, the “time” will be like that of the “days of Noah”.

When we consider Luke's words in this verse, we learn a point in history to which people may refer and realize what the conditions of the world will be like when Jesus appears. Jesus spoke of the “days of Noah” in which people basically forsook the Lord God and did whatever they thought was right in their own eyes. Genesis chapters six and seven in the Bible share the story of Noah, and when we read those passages we understand how similar the people in those times were to people today. God “saved” “Noah” and his family, and He offers “salvation” through His Son Jesus to all who will “believe and trust” in Him as their personal “Savior and Lord”. Those who are wise will understand and believe because just as certain as the rains and flood came, and only those within Noah's ark were saved, there will be a time where receiving Jesus as “Savior” will no longer be available and everyone who refuses to believe will be destroyed.

Next time Luke shares how Jesus says the people in Noah's day, “did eat, they drank, they married wives, they were given in marriage, until the day that Noah entered into the ark” so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
