Remember Lot's Wife - Luke 17:32

The beloved physician Luke wrote how Jesus said, “as it was in the days of Noah, so shall it be also in the days of the Son of man. They did eat, they drank, they married wives, they were given in marriage,

until the day that Noah entered into the ark, and the flood came, and destroyed them all. Likewise also as it was in the days of Lot; they did eat, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they builded. But the same day that Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven, and destroyed them all. Even thus shall it be in the day when the Son of man is revealed. In that day, he which shall be upon the housetop, and his stuff in the house, let him not come down to take it away: and he that is in the field, let him likewise not return back”, and in chapter seventeen and verse thirty-two of his book Luke wrote how Jesus said, “remember Lot's wife” where we read:

Remember Lot's wife.

The verse reads,Remember Lot's wife.” Luke began with the word, “Remember” or “be mindful of, call to mind, think of and feel for as well as hold in memory” “Lot's wife” which means “the female spouse of Lot whose name means veil or covering and was the son of Haran and nephew to Abraham”. Luke shared how Jesus instructed His disciples to “be mindful” and “keep in memory” the “wife” of “Lot”.

When we consider Luke's words in this verse, we discover Jesus' instruction to His disciples concerning the time when He will appear. “Lot's wife”, whom we read about in Genesis 19, was turned into a pillar of salt because she disobediently looked back upon “Sodom” when the judgment of God fell upon that city. Jesus' disciples are to never forget what happened to the woman who looked toward her former living conditions rather than looking to and obeying God. God wants people to be in a personal relationship with them through His Son Jesus, and when they believe and trust in Him as their personal “Savior and Lord”, they shall ever be mindful of any person who does not keep their allegiance with Him.

Next time Luke shares how Jesus says, “whosoever shall seek to save his life shall lose it” so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
