People Coming to the Feast - John 12:12

The apostle John wrote how, the chief priests consulted that they might put Lazarus also to death. Because that by reason of him many of the Jews went away, and believed on Jesus”, and in chapter twelve and verse twelve of his book John shared about, “people” who “came to the feast” where we read:

On the next day much people that were come to the feast,

when they heard that Jesus was coming to Jerusalem,

The verse reads, “On the next day much people that were come to the feast, ... John began with the words, “on the next day” which means “and on the adjacent and following sunrise to sunset” “much people that were come” or “a lot and great number of people both male and female” “to the feast” which means “to the paschal sacrifice known as passover”. John shared how a large number of “people” came on the following “day” to the “paschal sacrifice”.

The verse continues, “... when they heard that Jesus was coming to Jerusalem, ...” John added the words, “when they heard” which means “at the time and moment the people were endowed with the faculty of hearing, perceiving and understanding” “that Jesus” or “that the Son of God, the Savior of mankind and God incarnate whose name means Jehovah is Salvation” “was coming to Jerusalem” which means “was to appear in the city of Jerusalem which means set you double peace and is the capital of Palestine”. John shared how the “people” “perceived” that “Jesus” was going to appear in “Jerusalem”, so they desired to go there as well.

When we consider John's words in this verse, we learn how the word of Jesus attending the “paschal feast” in Jerusalem was spreading, and when people “heard” this, they desired to go to Jerusalem as well. People were attracted to Jesus, and because He performed so many miracles and spoke convincing words, they wanted to see Him. God loves people, and He sent His Son Jesus into the world to save them from their sins and grant them everlasting life. Coming to Jesus is the best decision a person will ever make, and yielding to Him as their personal “Savior and Lord” will have eternal consequences. Let all who read these words submit themselves to Jesus.

Next time John shares how the people, “took branches of palm trees, and went forth to meet him, and cried, Hosanna: Blessed is the King of Israel”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
