Fruit Better than Gold and Silver - Proverbs 8:19

In the book of Proverbs Solomon said of wisdom, “I love them that love me; and those that seek me early shall find me. Riches and honor are with me; yes, durable riches and righteousness”, and in chapter eight and verse nineteen of Proverbs Solomon said, “my fruit is better than gold” where we read,

My fruit is better than gold, yes, than fine gold; and my revenue than choice silver.

The verse begins, “My fruit is better than gold, yes, than fine gold; Solomon began with the words, “my fruit” or “my, wisdom's, offspring, produce and reward” is better than gold which means “exists as more pleasant, agreeable, excellent and becoming compared to gold metal”, “than fine gold” or “compared to sharp, threshing, diligent, valuable and precious gold metal”. Solomon shared how the produce and reward of “wisdom” exceeds the value of gold metal and even precious gold metal.

The verse continues, “and my revenue than choice silver.” Solomon added the words, “and my revenue” or “and my, wisdom's, produce, yield, income and gain” “than choice silver” which means “exceeds that of excellent, acceptable and chosen silver metal”. Solomon said the yield and gain of “wisdom” exceeds that of excellent chosen silver metal.

When we meditate upon words in this verse, we learn through Solomon how God's wisdom is valuable to us. Compared to valuable and priceless “silver and gold metals”, “wisdom” is far more precious. When we seek the Lord with all our hearts, souls minds and wills, we shall find that He loves us and proved His love by sending His Son Jesus into the world to be crucified for the sins of all mankind. When we receive Jesus into our lives, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and provide His Holy Spirit who will guide us into all truth and show us His wise ways that exceed the temporary valuables that are in the world.

Next time Solomon says, “I lead in the way of righteousness”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.

Until tomorrow…there is more…
