The beloved physician Luke wrote about Jesus, “as he went to Jerusalem, that he passed through the midst of Samaria and Galilee. And as he entered into a certain village, there met him ten men that were lepers, which stood afar off. And they lifted up their voices, and said, Jesus, Master, have mercy on us. And when he saw them, he said unto them, Go show yourselves unto the priests. And it came to pass, that, as they went, they were cleansed. And one of them, when he saw that he was healed, turned back, and with a loud voice glorified God, and fell down on his face at his feet, giving him thanks: and he was a Samaritan. And Jesus answering said, Were there not ten cleansed? but where are the nine? There are not found that returned to give glory to God, save this stranger. And he said unto him, Arise, go your way: your faith has made you whole”, and in chapter seventeen and verse twenty of his book Luke wrote how Jesus was, “demanded of the Pharisees, when the kingdom of God should come” where we read:
And when he was demanded of the Pharisees, when the kingdom of God should come,
he answered them and said, The kingdom of God comes not with observation:
The verse reads, “And when he was demanded of the Pharisees, when the kingdom of God should come, ...” Luke began with the words, “and when he was demanded” or “and at the time and moment Jesus was inquired of, questioned and interrogated” “of the Pharisees” which means “the the Pharisees who were the sect that seems to have started after the Jewish exile. In addition to Old Testament books the Pharisees recognized in oral tradition a standard of belief and life”, “when the kingdom of God” or “at what time and moment the royal power, rule, reign and dominion of the Godhead which is comprised of God the Father, Christ the Son and the Holy Spirit” “should come” which means “will arise, arrive, come into being and be established”. Luke shared how Jesus was interrogated by the “religious leaders” known as “Pharisees” as to what time “God's Kingdom” would appear.
The verse goes on to say, “... he answered them and said, The kingdom of God comes not with observation:” Luke continued with the words, “he answered them” or “Jesus responded and began to say unto the Pharisees”, “and said” which means “and uttered, declared and proclaimed”, “The kingdom of God” or “the royal power, rule, reign and dominion of the Godhead bodily and trinity which is comprised of God the Father, Christ the Son and the Holy Spirit” “comes not with observation” which means “does not arise and appear with inspection and evidence”. Luke shared how Jesus told the “Pharisees” that God's Kingdom does not appear by “evidence and inspection”.
When we consider Luke's words in this verse, we learn how the “religious leaders” became involved once again with Jesus' ministry. This time they wanted to know when the “Kingdom of God” would arise and appear, and because they were unaware of God's timing, they needed to ask Jesus concerning the time. God has His plan of salvation available through belief and trust in His Son Jesus, and when a person yields their life to Him, the Kingdom of God becomes evident as Jesus shall share in the next verse. Those who are wise will understand God has a Kingdom, He knows when it is to come and those who are wise will carefully attend to everything He has to say.
Next time Luke shares how Jesus says, “the kingdom of God is within you” so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
