Desiring But Not Seeing the Son of Man's Days - Luke 17:22

The beloved physician Luke wrote about Jesus, “when he was demanded of the Pharisees, when the kingdom of God should come, he answered them and said, The kingdom of God comes not with observation: Neither shall they say, Lo here! or, lo there! for, behold, the kingdom of God is within you”, and in chapter seventeen and verse twenty-two of his book Luke wrote how Jesus said, you shall desire to see on of the days of the Son of man, and you shall not see it where we read:

And he said unto the disciples, The days will come,

when you shall desire to see one of the days of the Son of man, and you shall not see it.

The verse reads, “And he said unto the disciples, The days will come, ... Luke began with the words, “and he said unto the disciples” or “and Jesus uttered, declared and proclaimed to His students, pupils and attendants”, “The days will come” which means “the times or natural intervals between sunrise and sunset will arise and appear”. Luke shared how Jesus told His “disciples” how there would be “days” when the following would occur.

The verse goes on to say,... when you shall desire to see one of the days of the Son of man, and you shall not see it.Luke continued with the words, “when you shall desire to see” or “after which Jesus' disciples will long for, covet and lust after the ability to observe, notice, discover and discern” “one of the days” which means “a single and particular natural intervals between sunrise and sunset” “of the Son of man” or “belonging to God's Son Jesus”, “and you shall not see it” which means “and Jesus' disciples will be unable to observe, notice, discover and discern it”. Luke shared how Jesus said there would be a time when people would want to “see” the time of the “Son of man” but would not be able to observe it.

When we think through Luke's words in this verse, we learn how Jesus told His disciples there would be a “season” when people would “desire” to see “God's Kingdom”, but would be unable to do so. God loves people, and the time to notice His “Kingdom” is now. Those who yield their lives to God's Son Jesus as their personal “Savior and Lord” will find His Kingdom within them, and those who refuse to receive Jesus will discover there will be a time when they will “seek” the “Kingdom of God”, but will no longer be able to observe or receive it.

Next time Luke shares how Jesus says, “they shall say to you, See here: or, see there: go not after them” so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
