Suffer Little Children to Come to Jesus - Luke 18:16

The beloved physician Luke wrote how people, “brought unto him also infants, that he would touch them: but when his disciples saw it, they rebuked them”, and in chapter eighteen and verse sixteen of his book Luke wrote how Jesus, “called them unto him, and said, Suffer little children to come unto me, and forbid them not” where we read:

But Jesus called them unto him, and said, Suffer little children to come unto me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God.

The verse reads,But Jesus called them unto him, and said, Suffer little children to come unto me, and forbid them not:” Luke began with the words, “But Jesus” or “however, nonetheless, notwithstanding and moreover the Son of God, the Savior of mankind and God incarnate whose name means Jehovah is Salvation” “called them unto him” which means “beckoned, bid, summoned and invited the little children to Himself”, “and said” or “and uttered, declared and proclaimed”, “suffer little children” which means “allow and permit the infants and recently born small ones” “to come unto me” or “to arise and come forth to Jesus Himself”, “and forbid them not” which means “and do not hinder, prevent, deny or refuse the little children”. Luke shared how Jesus beckoned the “little children” to come to Him and told His disciples to allow them to arise and appear before Him.

The verse goes on to say, “for of such is the kingdom of God.” Luke continued with the words, “for of such” or “because, since and on account that of this sort” “is the kingdom of God” which means “within the royal power, reign, dominion and ruler of the Godhead bodily and trinity which is comprised of God the Father, Christ the Son and the Holy Spirit”. Luke shared how Jesus said “God's Kingdom” is like “little children” coming to Him.

When we consider Luke's words in this verse, we learn how “God's Kingdom” is like “children” coming to Jesus. John the apostle wrote, But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God” (See John 1:12), and those who put their faith and trust in Jesus become the “children” of God. God wants all people to “come unto Him”, and He desires to bless and touch them with a relationship with Him. Those who are wise will yield themselves to Jesus and approach Him like a little child.

Next time Luke shares how Jesus says, “whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child shall in no wise enter therein”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
