Passing through Samaria - Luke 17:11

The beloved physician Luke wrote how Jesus asked His disciples, “which of you, having a servant plowing or feeding cattle, will say unto him by and by, when he is come from the field, Go and sit down to meat? And will not rather say unto him, Make ready wherewith I may sup, and gird yourself, and serve me, till I have eaten and drunken; and afterward you shall eat and drink? Does he thank that servant because he did the things that were commanded him? I trow not. So likewise you, when you shall have done all those things which are commanded you, say, We are unprofitable servants: we have done that which was our duty to do”, and in chapter seventeen and verse eleven of his book Luke wrote how Jesus, passed through the midst of Samaria and Galileewhere we read:

And it came to pass, as he went to Jerusalem, that he passed through the midst of Samaria and Galilee.

The verse reads, “And it came to pass, as he went to Jerusalem, ... Luke began with the words, “and it came to pass” or “and it happened and appeared in existence”, “as he went” which means “while and during the time Jesus left and departed” “to Jerusalem” or “to Jerusalem which means set you double peace and was the capital of Palestine”. Luke shared how at the time Jesus was traveling to the city of Jerusalem the following occurred.

The verse continues,... that he passed through the midst of Samaria and Galilee.Luke added the words, “and he passed through” or “that Jesus walked and journeyed by” “the midst of Samaria” which means “the middle and amongst the territory in Palestine in which Samaria which means guardianship was the capital” “and Galilee” or “the name of a region of northern Palestine, bounded on the north by Syria, on the west by Sidon, Tyre, Ptolemais and their territories and the promontory of Carmel, on the south by Samaria and on the east by the Jordan”. Luke shared how Jesus began to pass through the area of “Samaria and Galilee”.

When we consider Luke's words in this verse, we see how Jesus was on the move again. This time He was traveling toward Jerusalem and needed to pass by “Samaria and Galilee” to arrive there. Jesus was on a mission to the “cross” where He would die for the sins of the whole world, and because God loves people, Jesus was purposed to travel wherever it was necessary. Those who are wise will understand and believe the passion of Jesus to fulfill the plan of His Father God and yield their lives unto Him.

Next time Luke shares how Jesus encounters, ten men that were lepersso read ahead, and we shall join together then.
