The beloved physician Luke wrote how people, “brought unto him also infants, that he would touch them: but when his disciples saw it, they rebuked them. But Jesus called them unto him, and said, Suffer little children to come unto me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God”, and in chapter eighteen and verse seventeen of his book Luke wrote how Jesus says, “whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child shall in no wise enter therein” where we read:
Whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child shall in no wise enter therein.
The verse reads, “Verily I say unto you, ...” Luke began with the word, “Verily” or “truly, surely and most certainly” “I say unto you” which means “I, Jesus, utter, declare and proclaim to His disciples”. Luke shared how Jesus “most certainly” began to “proclaim” the following words to His disciples.
The verse continues, “Whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child shall in no wise enter therein.” Luke added the word, “whosoever” or “whatever person whether male or female” “shall not receive” which means “will not accept, embrace, make their own and approve” “the kingdom of God” or “of the Godhead bodily and trinity which is comprised of God the Father, Christ the Son and the Holy Spirit” “as a little child” which means “in likeness and like unto an infant” “shall in no wise enter therein” or “will in not in the least way arise, come or make entrance into God's Kingdom”. Luke shared how Jesus said whatever person does not “accept and embrace” God's Kingdom like a “small child” will never “enter” into it.
When we meditate upon Luke's words in this verse, we learn how Jesus emphasized the manner in which a person “enters” God's Kingdom. There must be a “child like humble faith” within the person who comes to Jesus, and when they submit their lives to Him, they enter into the “Kingdom of God”. God desires to have a loving personal relationship with everyone, and He invites those who will submit to His Son Jesus to gain entrance into His “everlasting” Kingdom. Let all who read these words come to Jesus like a child and enjoy the “eternal Kingdom of God”.
Next time Luke shares how, “a certain ruler asked him, saying, Good Master, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
