None But This Stranger Gives God Glory - Luke 17:18

The beloved physician Luke wrote about Jesus, “as he went to Jerusalem, that he passed through the midst of Samaria and Galilee. And as he entered into a certain village, there met him ten men that were lepers, which stood afar off. And they lifted up their voices, and said, Jesus, Master, have mercy on us. And when he saw them, he said unto them, Go show yourselves unto the priests. And it came to pass, that, as they went, they were cleansed. And one of them, when he saw that he was healed, turned back, and with a loud voice glorified God, and fell down on his face at his feet, giving him thanks: and he was a Samaritan. And Jesus answering said, Were there not ten cleansed? but where are the nine?”, and in chapter seventeen and verse eighteen of his book Luke wrote how Jesus said, there are not found that returned to give glory to God where we read:

There are not found that returned to give glory to God, save this stranger.

The verse reads, “There are not found that returned to give glory to God, ... Luke began with the words, “there are not found” or “there exists no others by discovering, scrutiny and observation” “that returned” which means “who came and turned back” “to give glory to God” or “to grant, bestow, furnish and supply praise, honor, splendor and brightness to the Godhead bodily and trinity which is comprised of God the Father, Christ the Son and the Holy Spirit”. Luke shared how Jesus recognized there were not others than this “one man” who returned to Him to give “praise and honor” to God for his healing.

The verse goes on to say,... save this stranger.Luke continued with the words, “save” or “lest and except for” “this stranger” which means “this alien, foreigner and man from another tribe”. Luke shared how Jesus only found this one “stranger” who was a “Samaritan” was the only one of the ten men who were healed of leprosy to give God “glory” for what happened.

When we meditate upon Luke's words in this verse, we see how Jesus acknowledged this man as “special and exclusive” among the other ten men who were healed because he returned to give God glory for His healing. So many people forget what God has provided for them all their lives, and very few give Him thanks for what He has given. Because God loves people, He wants a personal relationship with every one of them through His Son Jesus. God takes great delight in those who yield their lives to His Son and extend gratitude and appreciation for the eternal life He provides.

Next time Luke shares how Jesus says, Arise, go your way: your faith has made you wholeso read ahead, and we shall join together then.
