John the apostle shared how Jesus told Nicodemus, “as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up. That whosoever believes in him should not perish, but have eternal life. For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in him should not perish, but have everlasting life”, and in chapter three and verse seventeen of his book, John shared how Jesus said, “God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world” where we read:
For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world;
but that the world through him might be saved.
The verse reads, “For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world;” John began with the words, “For God” which means “because, since and on account that the Godhead bodily and trinity which is comprised of God the Father, Christ the Son and the Holy Spirit” “sent not his Son” or “did not dispatch, appoint and set apart” “into the world” which means “to the earth and it's inhabitants or the human family” “to condemn the world” or “to pronounce judgment and censure upon the earth and it's inhabitants or the human family”. John shared how Jesus told Nicodemus God did not “dispatch and assign” His Son Jesus to the earth and it's inhabitants to “pronounce judgment” upon them.
The verse goes on to say, “but that the world through him might be saved.” John continued with the words, “but that the world” which means “however, nonetheless, notwithstanding and moreover so the earth and it's inhabitants or the human family” “through him” or “by way and means” “might be saved” which means “could be kept safe and rescued from danger or destruction”. John shared how Jesus said God desired to “save” the “world” and it's inhabitants.
When we meditate upon John's words in this verse, we learn that God did not desire to “judge the inhabitants” of the world to condemnation, but rather sent His Son Jesus on their behalf so they might be “saved”. People in the “world” needed to be “saved” from the penalty for “sins” which is death so they might have a personal relationship with God. There was no means by which they could have their sins removed. Jesus came to die on the cross to pay the penalty of death for the “sins” of the “world”, and anyone who believes and trusts in Him as their personal “Lord and Savior” will be forgiven by God and inherit everlasting life with Him. Let all who read these words understand, God did not send Jesus to “condemn” them, but to “save” them to live eternally with Him.
Next time John shares how Jesus says the person, “that believes on him is not condemned”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
