John the apostle shared when Jesus, “ was in Jerusalem at the passover, in the feast day, many believed in his name, when they saw the miracles which he did. But Jesus did not commit himself unto them, because he knew all men, ...”, and in chapter two and verse twenty-five of his book, John shared how Jesus, “needed not that any should testify of men” where we read:
And needed not that any should testify of man: for he knew what was in man.
The verse reads, “And needed not that any should testify of man:” John began with the words, “And needed not” which means “and did not have a necessity, duty or business” “that any should testify” which means “so certain ones or some people would be witnesses or affirm concerning” “of man” or “that which is pertaining to people whether male or female”. John shared how Jesus did not “need” for anyone to “testify” concerning people because of the following trait within Him.
The verse continues, “for he knew what was in man.” John added the words, “for he knew” which means “because, since and on account that Jesus understood, perceived and had knowledge of” “what was in man” or “that which was within people whether male or female”. John shared how Jesus did not need the “testimony” of anyone because He already “knew” what was within people.
When we consider John's words in this verse, we learn how Jesus was not in need of a “witness” by others concerning people because He already understood what was in them. God knows people, and He understands how they need Him. He came to the world to “save” people from theirs “sins” so they could live with Him forever. Anyone who yields their life to Him as their personal “Lord and Savior” will be forgiven of what He knows about them and live forever with God in Heaven.
Next time we begin a new chapter and see John share about, “a man of the Pharisees, named Nicodemus”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
