John the apostle wrote, “When therefore the Lord knew how the Pharisees had heard that Jesus made and baptized more disciples than John, ...”, and in chapter four and verse two of his book, John shared how, “Jesus himself baptized not, but his disciples” where we read:
(Though Jesus himself baptized not, but his disciples,)
The verse reads, “(Though Jesus himself baptized not, ...” John began with the words, “(Though Jesus himself” which means “although and nevertheless the Son of God, the Savior of mankind and God incarnate whose name means Jehovah is Salvation His own self” “baptized not” or “did not immerse or submerge or immerse people”. John parenthetically shared how Jesus did not “baptize” people.
The verse continues, “... but his disciples,)”. John added the words, “but” which means “nonetheless, notwithstanding and moreover” “his disciples” or “Jesus' students, pupils and attendants”. John shared how it was Jesus' “students and attendants” who actually “baptized” people.
When we consider John's words in this verse, we see how he informed his readers that “Jesus” did not “baptize” people, but His “disciples” did. For whatever reason, Jesus allowed His “disciples” to “immerse people” in water as an outward sign of their inward repentance. God is willing to use people to bring others into a relationship with Him when they yield their lives to His Son Jesus as their personal “Savior and Lord”. Those who are wise will submit themselves to Jesus and allow Him to use them in any way He deems necessary to bring people into His Kingdom.
Next time John shares how Jesus, “left Judaea, and departed again into Galilee”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
