John the apostle shared how Jesus told Nicodemus, “as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up. That whosoever believes in him should not perish, but have eternal life. For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. He that believes on him is not condemned: but he that believes not is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. For every one that does evil hates the light, neither comes to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved”, and in chapter three and verse twenty-one of his book, John shared how Jesus said, “he that does truth comes to the light” where we read:
But he that does truth comes to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest,
that they are wrought in God.
The verse reads, “But he that does truth comes to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, ...” John began with the words, “but he that does truth” which means “however, nonetheless, notwithstanding and moreover the person whether male or female who performs and produces what is true in things appertaining to God and the duties of man in moral and religious truth” “comes to the light” or “arises and comes for to the truth and the knowledge of it”, “that his deeds” which means “so the person whether male or female's business, acts, enterprises and undertakings” “may be manifest” or “might be evident, apparent or visible from that which was unknown or hidden”. John shared how Jesus said the person who “performs” “true things” pertaining to God and the duties of man will have his or her “activities and undertakings” revealed and uncovered.
The verse goes on to say, “... that they are wrought in God.” John continued with the words, “that they are wrought” which means “that the works are exercised, performed and produced” “in God” or “within the Godhead bodily and trinity which is comprised of God the Father, Christ the Son and the Holy Spirit”. John shared how Jesus said the person whose “deeds” are made apparent have them “worked out” by God exposing them.
When we consider John's words in this verse, we learn how the person who approaches God's “truth” and the knowledge of it become familiar with His ways, and their own “wicked ways” are exposed. Then God begins to “work” on their lives so they may become more and more like Him. God's desire is to have a personal relationship with every person through His Son Jesus, and when they yield their life to Him, He not only forgives and cleanses their sins, but He also promises to grant them everlasting life with Him. Let all who read these words submit themselves to Jesus Christ who is willing and able to “forgive” and show people the way to live righteously before Him and others.
Next time John shares, “after these things came Jesus and his disciples into the land of Judaea”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
